Hong Kong, China. 2007.10.28 - Shooting stills for an upcoming campaign for a new global hotel chain, London based
photographer John Offenbach and creatives from ad agency McCann-Erickson, Paris, flew over the Hong Kong skyline today.
Flying the Heliservices Aerospatiale Equirrel 350 from the roof of The Peninsula hotel, offered high angle perspectives of the dramatic Hong Kong skyline, while the Producers luxuriated in The Clipper Lounge.
Essential has a long heritage of aerial cinematography and photography. Aerial projects have ranged from a State Emergency Services doco, an NBC Sports adventure special, The America's Cup and National Mutual television commercials and global logisitcs corporates to feature film sequences.
For Cathay Pacific, Andrew W Morse conceptualised, wrote and directed a destination film on Hong Kong. Entitled "
Through the eyes of a Black Kite", the film revealed a stunningly beautiful low angle, aerial perspective of Hong Kong. Images progressed from dawn over the north west marshlands, through the rocky east coast and outer island fishing villages to the bustling Victoria Harbour. In the course of the filming, in order to change a film magazine, we landed on the construction site of Chek Lap Kok (now Hong Kong's International Airport). While the cameraman changed the mag, Mr. Morse alighted the aircraft. As a result, he can legitimately claim to being one of the very first passengers to land at the airport!
