Hong Kong, China. 2007.10.27 - Capturing the extreme density of a city like Hong Kong, makes a high camera position essential. Andy Chan secured permission to shoot from the roof of a building perfectly located in the centre of Hong Kong Island.

Photographing a campaign for a global hotel chain, London based John Offenbach and Parisian McCann-Erickson creatives, captured the Hong Kong skyline from the roof of a 50 storey building today. The schedule (from mid afternoon until early evening), enabled John to shoot both with and without daylight in the sky.

Andy Chan, who has worked with Andrew W Morse of Essential Asia since 1991, has the excellent guanxi (relationships) with both Hong Kong and mainland China authorities, necessary to enable smooth application processing and flexible response to production requirements.

Essential has an extensive heritage of stills photography. Over almost 3 decades, photographic projects have encompassed a wide range of sectors and locations. These have included the stills for the launch of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, images for the long running Absolut (bottle shape) campaign, and pro bono photography with Jackie Cheung for the community service organisation "Helping Hand".

Andy Chan has earned an unoffical 'degree in China factories' having worked in hundreds of manufacturing plants across the mainland during corporate film and television commercial projects for global clients. Amongst these have been NYSE listed Nam Tai (Shenzhen), Atlanta based Anisa (Tianjin) and Unisol (Zhongshan).
