Sydney, Australia. 2009.3.9 - This evening, a reception for Foodbank NSW corporate supporters was held at Government House, Sydney.

Andrew W Morse attended on behalf of Digital Tsunami, which for ten years has contributed to the success of Foodbank NSW.

Upon returning to Australia from Hong Kong in 1999, Morse responded to Foodbank's request for website support. Since then, the company has delivered several generations of web presence, the latest integrating all the state branches and the national organisation in www.foodbank.com.au.

As Patron of Foodbank NSW, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their continued support of many thousands of needy Australians. Governor Bashir remarked that the recent natural disasters in Australia had increased the demand on charitable organisations for food and grocery items.

As a medical doctor, Governor Bashir observed that the most vulnerable were our next generation; children; for whom malnourishment affected mental as well as physical development.

It was a pleasure to speak with Her Excellency and learn of her visit to Hong Kong, many years ago, on an extensive trip across Asia. The excitement which Hong Kong engendered in her then has not faded with the years. The city continues to have that effect on visitors today!

The attendees included representatives of the major food manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, as well as finance, logistics and technology providers. Executives and Directors of Foodbank NSW attended, as did the Chairman and CEO of Foodbank Australia.

Foodbank Australia recently announced that its' cash donations for the last quarter of last year, exceeded donations in the same quarter of the previous year by 330%! This was ascribed to the integration of e.commerce (through ANZ's payment gateway, eGate) into the online site.

As its' major commitment to community social responsibility, Digital Tsunami is proud of its' long-term pro bono support of Foodbank Australia, and the objective of 'an Australia without Hunger'.
