Abu Dhabi, UAE. 2009.3.23 - Two Digital Tsunami clients are in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week, filming the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2009.
 

 
Rally competitors race motorbikes, cars and trucks, in a five-day event across the unforgiving desert of the UAE. Cameramen Laurie Gilbert of L'Image Cinematography and Matt Gormly of Travelling Matt are both shooting footage for an hour-long ESPN special. For many years, both have shot similar sporting events, on locations around the world.
 
Veteran cinematographer Gilbert will be shooting aerials, for which he has an international reputation in both sporting and corporate projects. Gormly brings not only creative and technically brilliant cameraman's skills, but also personal experience as a competitive motorcycle racer.
 
Digital Tsunami developed the websites for both these cinematographers, and founder Andrew W Morse has been friend and colleague with both for many years.
 
Morse first encountered Gilbert in 1987, during the America's Cup in Fremantle, Australia. Gilbert was shooting footage for the event's global television coverage and Morse was producing a television commercial featuring world-champion yachtsman and multiple America's Cup winner, Dennis Conner. They have since worked together on projects for Coca-Cola, Macdonalds and OOCL.
 
In 1991, Morse and Gormly both moved to Hong Kong and Morse engaged Gormly on a number of corporate films which he produced. Morse suggested the identity 'Travelling Matt' both as a reflection of the geographic range of locations and an optical effect used in pre-digital film-making. They have worked together on projects for the Australia China Business Council, Bilfinger+Berger and Fujitsu.
 
Digital Tsunami has developed websites for other film production clients including New York based film and events producer, Lifestyle International.
 
Morse's own film production experience commenced in 1979. He has worked as an Executive Producer, Producer, Director, Production Manager, Assistant Director and Investor's Representative on feature films, major mini-series, television drama, corporate films, commercials and films for the web.
