Baltimore, USA. 2009.10.29 - With the theme of Designing for a Sustainable World, this year's 5th Anniversary World Usability Day is on Thursday November 12, 2009.

What is World Usability Day?

World Usability Day was founded to ensure that the services and products important to life, are easier to access and simpler to use. It's about making our world work better.

Technology today is too hard to use. A cell phone should be as easy to access as a doorknob. In order to humanize a world that uses technology as an infrastructure for education, healthcare, transportation, government, communication, entertainment, work and other areas, we must develop these technologies in a way that serve people first.

On World Usability Day 2008, more than 40,000 people participated in 200 events in 180 cities across 43 countries. Extensive worldwide media coverage was generated and many thousands participated online. View photos on Flickr.

Thw WUD2009 offers suggestions for organizing an event. It does not need to cost any money . It may consist of simply gathering your co-workers on this day to talk about how your company can contribute to a more sustainable world. Use November 12, 2009 as the "official day" to talk about future plans. The intent is to make technological advancements more easy and user friendly around the world.
