Sydney, Australia. 2009.11.10 - The Shanghai World Expo 2010, running from 1 May to 31 October, is broadly anticipated to be the biggest in history, and the countdown has begun!
China is the fastest growing major economy in the world, with consistent annual growth rate of 8 per cent. China is therefore an immense added attraction for nations to promote their technologies on this quadrennial stage.
To emphasise the importance of the event, the
Australia China Business Council (ACBC) has integrated a digital countdown to the event on it's website. The countdown will click off the days until the Shanghai World Expo 2010 begins.
The ACBC is the premier business organisation in Australia dedicated to promoting business and trade with the People's Republic of China.
Australia is making an investment of $83 million in the project. The
Australian pavilion was launched on 21 October by Minister for Trade, Simon Crean who stated "It will be the perfect place for the international launch of the Building Brand Australia, which is scheduled for May"
Leading Australian companies and institutions including the ACBC national sponsors: Rio Tinto and Qantas; and ACBC members: ANZ, Telstra and the University of Sydney; have partnered with the Commonwealth and all states and territories, to actively support Australian participation through cash and in-kind contributions.
For the 184 days of the expo, Australia's visually striking national pavilion will showcase Australian innovation, creativity and achievement to some 7 million visitors mostly from mainland China - an average of 38,000 people a day.
